Our historic Church building has dominated the landscape of this part of South Leicestershire for over 800 years. It is renowned for its former Rector, John Wycliffe who first translated the Bible into English in the 14th Century, and became a centre for mission through him.

Our mission statement is "Working for the Kingdom of God". We acknowledge the great work of all who have served the Church here in former generations and we strive to remain a centre for mission. To proclaim Jesus Christ crucified, risen and ascended. Our strong desire is that future generations will continue to carry the banner of faith in Jesus as Lord and Saviour and build up his Church.

We are pleased to say that this is one of our projects which was completed successfully and has improved our church dramatically.

The aim was to make the Church more "user friendly". Specifically by the provision of toilet facilities, soundproofed creche, meeting rooms and a larger, better lit Parish office.

Introduction

Aim:- To restore the fabric of the Church as identified in the inspection (of 1993). The main items of concern are the poor condition of the 'ring beam'which ties the top of the tower together, the replacement of the pinnacle and the lowering of the bells to prevent their vibrations causing further structural damage.

Cost:- £135,000

The aim of the project is to significantly improve the quality of the Churchyard for the benefit of all residents of Lutterworth and visitors to the town. The Churchyard is a key part of the historic core of Lutterworth and is the only large green central space that can be accessed from the town centre. We believe that the proposed changes will provide a more attractive environment for local people and enhance civic pride. The historic appeal of the Church is also an attraction in its own right, and a better quality environment would serve to promote Lutterworth as a whole. The Churchyard is very well used both by people regularly tending graves and as a thoroughfare. The proposed improvements to the quality of the environment would encourage more people to spend a greater amount of time in the Churchyard and use it as a place for quiet and contemplation.
